Eng Vs Aus 2nd Odi Harry Brook Urges For Patience With Inexperienced England

ENG vs AUS 2nd ODI: Harry Brook urges for patience with 'inexperienced' England

Harry Brook defends his inexperienced team as England stutter

Brook takes responsibility for England's below-par performance

Harry Brook has defended his "inexperienced" England team after they stuttered to a below-par 234 all out in the second one-day international against Australia on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Brook, who made 28 from 26 balls at number three, admitted that England's batting was "not good enough" but urged patience with a team that is still finding its feet in the 50-over format.

"We're a very inexperienced side," said Brook. "There's only a handful of us who have played more than 20 ODIs. We're still learning and we're still trying to find our way."

Brook's comments came after England lost three wickets in the first 10 overs, including the key wicket of captain Jos Buttler for just 12.

Jonny Bairstow (43) and Ben Stokes (39) steadied the ship with a partnership of 74, but England lost wickets at regular intervals thereafter.

Brook, who was one of England's better performers with the bat, said he takes responsibility for his team's below-par performance.

"I'm batting at number three and I'm one of the senior players in the team," he said. "I need to be scoring more runs and I need to be taking more responsibility."

Despite his disappointment with England's batting performance, Brook remains optimistic about the team's chances in the series.

"We've got a lot of talent in this team," he said. "We've just got to learn how to put it all together."

England's batting woes continue as Australia take 2-0 lead

England's batting woes continued on Sunday as they were bowled out for 234 all out in the second one-day international against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The tourists lost three wickets in the first 10 overs, including the key wicket of captain Jos Buttler for just 12.

Jonny Bairstow (43) and Ben Stokes (39) steadied the ship with a partnership of 74, but England lost wickets at regular intervals thereafter.

No England batsman was able to go on and make a big score, with Sam Curran's 35 the highest score after Brook's 28.

Australia's bowlers were excellent, with Mitchell Starc taking 4-47 and Pat Cummins taking 3-34.

The victory gives Australia a 2-0 lead in the three-match series, with the final match to be played in Melbourne on Tuesday.
