Serbia back on international stage after 2006 independence
England and Serbia will face each other for the first time since the latter re-emerged as an independent state in 2006 when they meet in the group stage of Euro 2024.
The two nations have never met at a major tournament before, and their only previous encounter was a friendly in 2003, which England won 2-1.
Serbia, who were known as Yugoslavia before their independence, have a strong footballing history, having won the European Championship in 1960 and 1968.
England, meanwhile, are one of the favorites to win Euro 2024, and will be looking to make a strong start to their campaign when they face Serbia in their opening match.
